CO-HOST & FILED REPORTER for SUSTAINABLE TODAY TV

Sustainable Today is a cable access program that covers the entire specturm of sustainability topics including social, economic and environmental issues. We produce once a month from Portland Community Media and the show is seen statewide over OPAN and OPB's Plus channel.

1. We are looking for an additional host to compliment our current female host for studio interviews and to research, select, contact and book guests for the program. You will co-ordinate and conduct the interview segment of our show as well as prepare and present a short digest of current sustainability related news. You may also assist with some outside studio production segments. Most of the work is in the Portland metro area but we have and will travel statewide if necessary.

The ideal person would be a journalism student or intern or a professional within the sustainability movement. Must possess a keen interest in sustainability and developed research, interview and reporting skill together with on-camera presentation talent. An ability to improvise and develop a friendly rapport with your counterpart is required. We will direct and train you if needed. Strong connections within the sustainability movement are greatly desired.

2. We need field reporters to go with camera crews to interview & produce one of two spotlight segments for each show. One focuses on a business that has benefitted and/or is actively involved in sustainable activities and practices. The other is a Community Spotlight that highlights grassroots, non-profit, local efforts to promote and advance sustainability. Most of the work is in the Portland metro area but we have and will travel statewide if necessary.  We will take as many qualified volunteers as we can get.

The ideal person would be a journalism student or intern with a keen interest and developed research, interview and reporting skill as well as on-camera presentation talent. You will be required to research, contact, set up and report on-camera the various field pieces.

This is a polished production so if you are keen on sustainability and the environment, and want to gather some experience for your resume or even your personal life, you will be working with a seasoned veteran news photographer and an experienced crew. This is not your ordinary public access show.

This program is an all volunteer effort. None of the producers, field correspondents, hosts or production staff are paid. We are seeking funding for wider distribution and national exposure through a newly created non-profit organization called The Center for a Sustainable Today. So there is a possibility this could turn into a more permanent paid position down the road.

Contact us at video@sustainabletoday.org Please include your resume and a photo if you have one. Looking forward to your responses.
